2. Helping students find the proper resources they need in order to become eligible for student needs and advocating for their basic need rights

3. Improving the quality of the methods in which students receive aid.

4. Branding our efforts as we go

Mobilize the SWIPE student org on campus

1. Collaborate with other student organizations.

2. Hold space for all intersectionalities and their struggles with food access.

3. Raise funds for our causes.

4. Encourage a growth mindset & establish foundational leadership skills applicable in every aspect of life.

Go above and beyond

1. petition for a course credit educating students on the severity of student hunger

2. Contract CSUS sports clubs for participation in volunteering and philanthropy

3. Broaden the impact spectrum by calling attention to the level of local High School involvement

4. Implement a high school education requirement that hinges on student food security.

This partnership would be through the California State University, Sacramento's Swipe Out Hunger Program Founded by Danielle Munoz.

About The Swipe out Hunger Program

At the beginning of each school year, students can indicate they want to donate one swipe when signing up for their meal plan.

Swipes are then distributed to students facing food insecurity by the Student Affairs Case Managers.

Are you experiencing food insecurity on campus?

Check out Sacramento State’s Basic Needs page and our Campus Resources section below for information on how to set up an appointment with Danielle Muñoz, a Sac State Case Manager.

Year Founded: Fall 2018

Program Roots: Sacramento State launched a pilot meal swipe donation program in the fall of 2018 through a collaborative effort between Student Affairs CARES Office, University Enterprises, and University Housing.
